VIDEO: Delhi Metro molestation: Two women were assaulted in minutes

New Delhi (Times Now Bureau): On Monday, a drunk pervert was caught on CCTV molesting a 25-year-old journalist at Delhi Metro station, who bravely fought back and chased him off. Times Now has learnt that the pervert had assaulted another woman just minutes before.

Times Now spoke to the second woman, who is a lawyer, who stated that the pervert groped her and then fled the scene. She shared that there was no security personnel present where the incident took place.

“By the time I told the security personnel that I had been molested, he had gone and molested the other woman,” the lawyer told Times Now, who stated that the accused then tried to molest the woman at another gate.

Reacting to the two molestations, the Delhi police have termed the incident as ‘unfortunate’ and that it was just a matter of ‘chance’ that CISF personnel were not there to ensure the safety of women.

The two incident occurred at ITO Metro Station premises in central Delhi on Monday when the accused, identified as Akhilesh Kumar, in an inebriated state, allegedly molested the two women and passed lewd comments, police said.

In a CCTV footage at the time of the incident, the woman can be seen bravely fighting off the predator, who then cowardly flees the spot.

However, according to reports, the journalist had to go through further trauma following the incident after the CISF personnel present at the Metro station made her wait for more than an hour at the Control Room before filing the complaint. The CISF personnel, however, have denied that she was detained and stated the journalist waited on her own accord.

Kumar has been arrested by the police, but the two incidents again reveal the non-existent level of safety at Delhi's public spaces.
